Sydney’s phone screen was cracked recently when it was accidentally dropped on the driveway. I ordered a replacement screen from ETrade Supply: For HTC Desire 530 LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly With Front Housing Replacement – Blue – Grade S+. I placed the order on May 26, 2017. With a $3 coupon for being a new customer, the total with shipping came to $40.59. The new screen assembly arrived last night, June 5, 2017. I followed this video, HTC Desire Screen replacement, to take the phone apart. I used a set of spudger tools and an iFixit driver kit to take the front housing apart from the back cover. I then transferred the power subsystem from the bottom of the housing, the actual phone components from the top of the housing, and the battery from the middle of the housing from the broken front housing to the new front housing. I plugged in all of the cables connecting the new screen and screwed the front housing into the back cover. I powered it on and everything worked again. The total time for replacement was a bit less than an hour.
Sydney’s case for the phone is arriving from Amazon tomorrow. 🙂
